The Agony and The Ecstasy

August 27, 2008

In September, I’ll see Michelangelo’s ceiling in the Capella Sistina. No work of art has produced a longer lasting effect on me, ever since my Drawing classes some 12 years ago.

A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its loveliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.

(A Thing of Beauty, John Keats)
